The destruction is inching closer each week. I spent nearly two hours on the basement level of the library with patrons and fellow employees as a line of storms raged through the center of the state today. Other than torrential rain and whipping winds for a while, no major damage or injuries in our city. Sedalia, to our west, wasn’t so lucky. They took the brunt of the storm, which sent a tornado through the edge of town. No deaths reported so far, but plenty of damage. Every year, we talk about how the worst storms seem to pass us by. This was close enough for me. We can’t stay lucky forever.
